When I was still doing wedding photography I was Michelle and Chris’s wedding photographer. It is every photographers hope that once they have done a shoot with a client, that they are so pleased with your work that they call you back for more shoots later on. I was thrilled to receive a call from Michelle when she was pregnant! Not only is this couple gorgeous, they are friendly, kind and amazing parents already! Michelle had a tough time with her labour having complication after complication but it was worth ever ounce of hardship once she laid eyes on her precious son Alex. Mich and Chris, you guys are going to be the most spectacular parents little Alex could ask for and I wish you all the love, laughter and light that future has to offer. Have a squiz at their handsome little boy Alex!

Meet Aviva Shapiro!

What a tiny little precious bundle! After many feeds, a boiling hot room and much preparation, her parents (Lauren and Warren) and myself managed to get the most amazing pics and poses from this shoot! Aviva was an absolute darling and slept like a dream once we got rolling! So peaceful and so delicate. I’m blessed to have such dedicated and enthusiastic clients and lets not forget the most adorable models to work with! I just love this family! They have the kind of home I grew up in… full of kiddies, fun, craziness and loads of laughter! Every time I go to their house I am made to feel at home and at ease. I know I am comfortable in a clients home when I can kick off my shoes, have a 10 min coffee break whilst sitting on their bed cross-legged and chat away for a bit. I can only wish the Shapiro Family a lifetime of happiness, joyful surprises and never-ending blessings.

One of the larger families that I worked with whilst in JHB a few weeks back. It kept me busy and I must admit by the time I left I lost track of who was connected to who and who’s name was what but was a nice shoot all the same! We ended up doing a lot of “formal portraits” due to the size of the family but everyone was super happy to be there and you couldn’t help but feel like a part of the family whist in their company! We had some serious bribery going on which involved a little girl and a biiiig bucket of chewing gum balls(you have to admire the power of sugar). We even had a Rabbi pop by to say “hi” in the midst of our shoot as well as some jumping on the trampoline, some pics with the dogs(after all, they’re part of the family too) and some good old healthy family challenges as to who was “the favourite child”… what a giggle! Have a look! (P.S. there were tons and tons of photos so I just put a few up as a sneak peek.)

I needed two children to use as models for something I was working on and I called up a friend of mine Michele who I know has two kids, one boy and one girl… just what I was looking for! Michele didnt even flinch at the request and was very keen to pop around one afternoon after picking them up from school so we could do a quick afternoon studio shoot at my place. My ‘models’ were just SO SUPER and it was a breeze working with them! THANKS AGAIN MISH! What a super day! And it turned out to be exactly what I needed… Not bad for a 20min impromptu studio shoot I’d say! xoxox

I’ve been asked by quite a few clients as to how they can display the photos from their shoot. Most of them want fun, unique and different ideas to really showcase their photographs but also express a little bit about who they are and to match their home which is right up my alley, others like the conventional/traditional approach that photographs belong in frames and are to be hung and the correct eye level and evenly spaced apart which is also divine if placed in the right spot and you have a minimalistic/modern home with clean lines / colonial look and feel. Both are great but personally I love to experiment with displaying photos in my own home as it attracts peoples attention and draws them nearer to your photo’s to have a little peek at your memories.

Whilst searching on the net for inspiration I came across some rather P-INTERESTING ideas and I thought I’d share some of the photos that I found on Pinterest.

*It is important to note that these photographs were not taken by me and the rights to these photographs belong to their rightful owners/creators. Please don’t use these images unless you have permission from the rightful owners and/or you give the creators credit*  No one likes a thief…. fact.

Please enjoy the collages I have put together and I hope that you gets some fun, unique and fresh ideas to incorporate into your home!

While I was away in Cape Town over December I went to a Kitchen tea (pics to follow soon) where I took a moment to do a few quick snaps of the gorgeous little girls, Jessica and Sarah. Such sweet girls with the most adorable smiles! I couldn’t help but take the gap to snap away!!

I did a newborn shoot of Nabeel 6months ago and I got a call not too long ago to do another shoot of this handsome little fella! It was raining when the shoot was scheduled and as they don’t live in Durban we couldn’t move the date. So we decided to just do the shoot in the lounge. What cute little munchkin he is! Here’s a snippet from the shoot!

Looking forward to his 1year old shoot ;-)
